A pile-height comparison is a useful starting point when choosing artificial grass. Newport has a 30mm pile, Carisbrooke 40mm and Ventnor 50mm. The number describes the fibre height; it does not, by itself, measure density, durability or how a finished lawn will feel.
Compare the three ranges on the same basis
| Range | Per m² incl. VAT | Roll widths | Maximum length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newport 30mm | £23.88 | 2m / 4m | 25m |
| Carisbrooke 40mm | £21.34 | 2m / 4m | 25m |
| Ventnor 50mm | £22.64 | 2m / 4m | 25m |
These are supply prices including VAT. Delivery and any accessories are separate. The product page shows the current cut options and availability.
Newport is the shortest of these three choices and offers a shorter garden finish. Carisbrooke sits between the two in pile height. Ventnor has the longest pile for a fuller look. Start with the appearance you prefer, then compare samples rather than assuming the longest grass must be the best choice.
What pile height does not tell you
A 50mm label is not evidence that a grass is denser than a 30mm alternative. Likewise, a higher price does not establish better suitability for your particular garden. Check the actual product specification and ask about any requirement that matters to you, rather than treating height or price as a quality score.
If the space has a particular use, describe it when you enquire. Tell us whether you are planning a quiet seating area, a frequently used route through the garden or a lawn shared with pets. Include the existing surface and drainage so the relevant product information can be checked before you decide.
Use samples to make the visual decision
Place the samples side by side outdoors, close to the paving, fence or planting that will surround the lawn. Compare them in the same light and with the fibres pointing in the same direction. Look from your usual viewing position as well as close up; a small sample and a full garden photograph show different aspects of the finish.
Turn all three samples together and compare again. This helps you notice how the viewing direction changes the appearance without confusing a different orientation with a different colour. Feel each sample and compare the finish you would be happy to look after. Sample box delivery is £4.99; requests are handled separately from the shop basket.
Check the layout before choosing on price
Your supplied area depends on the width and length of each rectangular cut. A 3m × 5m space might use one 4m × 5m cut: that is 20m² of supplied grass for a 15m² finished area, before any additional trimming allowance. Compare the ranges using that same cut plan.
Read our 2m versus 4m roll guide before ordering. Newport, Carisbrooke and Ventnor carry Say Grass Ltd’s 15-year UV warranty under the written terms. UV cover is separate from ordinary wear and installation workmanship, so check the scope alongside your choice of grass.
